One of the most attractive and unusual plants in the world, this spectacular and popular agave, rare in the wild, is famous as one of the very few unarmed, soft-leaved agaves. The plants are extremely expensive to buy, but it is very easy to grow from seeds. The adult plants produce an absolutely enormous striking curved column of numerous fragrant yellow flowers. These tower upwards before bending over, the tip often reaching the ground. The flowering rosette then dies away, but numerous small offsets form on the base of the old stem. Popular as an ornamental plant in gardens in places with subtropical and warm climates.
