Eremurus aitchisonii is a perennial flower, also known as the foxtail lilies or desert candles. The inflorescence (flowers) look similar to a long spike or a bottlebrush, and consist of many soft-pink flowers. They bloom in late spring and into summer. The leaves grow in tufts of green straplike strips. Tolerant of dry soils. Makes an excellent cut-flower. Attracts pollinators.
They are native to eastern Europe and temperate Asia from Turkey to China.

Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Leave them at room temperature for 5-6 weeks. This helps break the phytohormones which inhibit germination. They will not grow yet. Then a completely dark and cold period is required. Cover them to block light, and place in a fridge for 90 days. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to a cool room (15°C, 59°F) for them to germinate. Germination is generally 30-90 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
