Paeonia lutea
YELLOW TREE PEONY

Description

Absolutely stunning and massive flowers cover this 'tree' peony, which forms a large shrub that is quite hardy, even in cold climates! Flowers are absolutely HUGE, single, and a gold yellow color. Plants form woody stems, rather than growing from the ground like regular perennial garden peonies. These seeds are very large, almost like a little marble!

Type: Shrub/Tree

Height: 1.5 to 2 meters

Hardiness zones: 5-9

Location: Part or morning/evening sun.

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Seeds per pack: 5 Large seeds

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. Sow the seeds just under the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 60-90 days. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold-moist stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature (15-19°C, 59-62 °F) for them to germinate. Peony will take for time to show above ground growth, as they form an underground root before any above ground growth is seen. Germination is generally 30-90 days after the warming period, though some can take longer, and will germinate irregularly over a long period of time. Do not discard the planting tray, as patience is needed, and they are well worth the wait!
