Description

Stunning large-flowered Lisanthus in a rich deep blue! Long stems are ideal for cut flowers. Lisanthus are often grown as annuals or houseplants, though are hardy perennials in zones 8-10. Seeds are pelleted to increase ease of planting.

Location: Sun

Height: 100cm, 39"

Seeds per pack: 10

About pellets: Pelleting is a coating that is sometimes applied to small seeds, to help with handling and sowing. Once the seeds are sown and watered, the pelleting is designed to immediately disintegrate to release the seeds.

Germination: Start these seeds early indoors during winter or spring, with the use of added lighting. Place the seeds on the surface of a sterile seed-start mix. Do not bury the seeds as they require bright light to germinate. Place fluorescent lights 1-2 inches above the container's cover. The seeds should receive 16 hours of light per day until the seedlings start to emerge. Keep the temperature at 70 - 75 degrees. Indoor growing is essential to avoid the fluctuating temperatures of a greenhouse or outdoors. Be sure to keep the seeds lightly moist, but not saturated, as they are sensitive to both overly wet and dry soils. Watering from a bottom tray is beneficial while they are germinating, as to not disturb the seeds. Germination is about 3-4 weeks. Once the seedlings start to emerge, adjust the lights so they are 2-4 inches above the top of the plants.
