Geum urbanum, also known as wood avens, herb Bennet, colewort and St. Benedict's herb, is a perennial plant in the rose family , which grows in shady places such as woodland edges, in North America and Eurasia.
A downy perennial herb which blooms begninning in May and can remain into the autumn and sometimes as late as December. The flowers have five bright yellow petals. The flowers are scented and are pollinated by bees.
