Canada Post CUPW announces national strike

For our Canadian customers:

We have made UPS shipping available for any orders that you wish to receive quickly. Rates are available at checkout.

During the strike we are still accepting orders for Canada Post shipping, and preparing them for shipping. They will be put into the Postal System as soon as possible. Since Canada Post will be delivering on a first-in, first-out basis, your order will be ready to go.

Here is some of the information that Canada Post has provided:

Mail and parcels will not be processed or delivered for the duration of the national strike, and some post offices will be closed. Service guarantees will be impacted for items already in the postal network. And no new items will be accepted until the national disruption is over.

All mail and parcels in the postal network will be secured and delivered as quickly as possible on a first-in, first-out basis once operations resume.

For our USA customers: There will be minimal delays to our standard shipping times.

Rosa carolina, commonly known as the Carolina rose, pasture rose, or prairie rose, is a perennial shrub that is native to eastern North America. It can be found in nearly all US states and Canadian provinces east of the Great Plains.

In spite of the delicate beauty of its blooms, this native plant is one of the toughest plants.

The fragrant flowers emerge in early summer. Blooms are about 6 to 8 centimeters (2.5 to 3 inches) in diameter, with five light pink petals and a yellow center. The foliage is smooth and dark green. The stems have straight, needle-like thorns, which distinguishes it from very similar species such as R. palustris and R. virginiana, which have curved thorns.

The Carolina rose is frequently found in a wide range of habitats, including dry soils, at the border of prairies, woodlands, and savannas, in thickets, in upland forested areas, and dunes. It also grows in wet soils along stream beds, swamps and low grassy areas. It has a wide range, from Nova Scotia, Canada, south to Florida, west to Texas, and north to Ontario.

The Carolina rose can be cultivated. It needs full sun to moderate shade. The plant is attractive to several species of bees and also provides nesting materials to them.

Height: 0.5 to 1 m, 18-40"
