Mimosa pudica is also called sensitive plant, sleepy plant, Dormilones, touch-me-not, or shy plant. Mimosa pudica is well known for its rapid plant movement! The compound leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, defending themselves from harm, and re-open a few minutes later.
It makes an interesting plant for curious minds, and grows well indoors or in shady areas. If kept for long periods of time it eventually grows to a length of 1.5 m (5 ft). In cultivation, this plant is most often grown as an indoor annual, but is also grown for groundcover. Propagation is generally by seed. Germination is very reliable.

Seeds per packet: 10
Before planting, soak the seeds for 12 hours. Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Keep lightly moist. Temperature 21C (70F). Seeds germinate in 14-21 days.
As sensitive plants mature they can develop wide thorns along the stems. Caution around young children.
