Scratch each seed with sand-paper, or on a rough stone or brick. Soak the seeds for 12-24 hours before planting. Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Keep at room temperature for 60-80 days. Then cover and place in a fridge for 60-80 days. Be sure to keep them moist, and to complete the full cold period or it will not be effective. Then bring them to approximately 21°C, 70°F for 4 weeks, though they though often they need a second cold period. If they are not growing cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for another 60-80 days. After the second cold stratification period they are then brought back to 21°C, 70°F for them to germinate. This double cold period is not always needed, but sometimes necessary, and is very normal for these seeds. Germination is in 30-90 days after the second warming period. Be sure they stay lightly moist through all steps.
