Mistflower resembles a blue-purple fog! The disk flowers form in clusters of 35-70 at the tops of stems in late summer and autumn, attracting many butterflies!

Insects that feed on Eupatorium species (Bonesets) may also use Mistflower as a host plant, and include the Clymene Moth, the Lined Ruby Tiger Moth, and the Three-Lined Flower Moth.

After overwintering, the plants can be late to emerge in the spring in northern climates.

Type: Hardy perennial

Location: Part sun, part shade

Hardiness zones: 5-9

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Germination: Start these seeds right away to preserve viability, no matter the time of year. These seeds need light to germinate. Sow the seeds on the surface of a sterile seed-start mix, and water in. Then cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 5-6 weeks. Be sure they stay moist. After the cold stratification period they are then brought back to room temperature for them to germinate. Germination is in 14-45 days after the warming period.
