Description
Phormium are magnificently colored plants, with wide, strappy leaves, growing tall and bold! These seeds are from the red/purple/bronze form. Flowers are red-orange, and appear in late summer-fall, and are extremely tropical looking!
Type: Hardy perennial
Height: 3-5 feet
Location: Sun
Hardiness zones: 8-11
Seeds per pack: 10
Availability: If these seeds are showing out of stock, we strongly recommend joining our wait list, as these seeds have a very shorty viability window, and this helps ensure you get the freshest seeds possible! If they are available, they will only be available for a limited time.
Germination: Your planting container should have holes in the bottom for excess water to drain. For best results, obtain a sterile seed-start mix, and place the seeds just under the surface of the pre-moistened growing medium. Keep moist until germination, which can take about 4 weeks. You can cover the container with clear plastic if you wish, to retain moisture until germination until you see growth.
Though you should have germination after 4 weeks, if your seeds have not yet emerged, they may need some help to know that it is time to grow. If this happens, place the growing container in the fridge for 6 weeks, and then bring the container back to room temperature. This will signal the warming of spring, and time to grow. They should emerge within 6 weeks of being brought back to warmth. Once seeds emerge, place in a sunny place, outdoors if temperatures permit.
