Trollius chinensis
CHINESE GLOBE FLOWER
Trollius is closely related to Ranunculus. Trollius usually grow in heavy, wet clay soils.
They have bright yellow flowers. They are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species of butterflies and moths.
Some species are popular ornamental flowers in horticulture, with several cultivars selected for large and brightly coloured flowers, and have gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
Type: Very hardy perennial
Height: 75cm
Location: Full sun or part sun
Hardiness zones: 2-9
Note: These seeds and plants are poisonous
Seeds per pack: 5
Germination: Seeds should be planted outdoors in late summer so that they will benefit from the cool and fluctuating temperatures of winter. In spring they will sprout, so be sure to mark the location that you planted the seeds. Please note, these seeds cannot grow without this cold period, so patience is required, though they are well worth the wait! If you choose to start this plant in a pot, you can place the pot in the fridge for the 'winter' (cold) period, which should last about 8 weeks. Then bring the pot to warmth for the seeds to grow, which can still take several weeks.
