Rhodochiton atrosanguineus is a herbaceous ornamental perennial native to Mexico. It is most often grown as an annual in cooler climates. The can reach three metres in length in perfect conditions, but more-likely 1.5-2.5 metres. The seeds are 3mm across.
R. atrosanguineus has gained the Royal Horticultural Society-s Award of Garden Merit. This plant is undemanding if given full sun or near-full sun, well-drained soil, and general care. It will tolerate cold temperatures, but not freezing.
Plants can be pruned in late winter to manage size and shape.
Seeds per packet: 10
Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Keep continuously moist. Temperature 20-22C, 68-72F. Germinates in 7-20 days.
