Description

This rare Angel's Trumpet has huge scarlet blooms! The flowers continue to be produced the entire growing season! The plants grow quickly to large plants, and if kept over winter they form shrubs which can easily be pruned to keep at a manageable and preferred size.

Brugmansia are frost tender. If you live in a colder region, bring plants indoors for the winter, and place in a sunny window. They overwinter well, and are easy to care for.

Do you know the difference? Angel's Trumpet's (Brugmansia) are different than Datura. Angel's Trumpets grow much larger and taller, up to 10' tall or more if you have a frost-free climate. If you live in a colder climate, plants can easily be grow in pots, trimmed back heavily, and taken indoors for the winter (to the surprise of many of our US customers, we do this at our location in Canada every year!). Angel's Trumpets also have larger (huge) flowers, and the flowers hang downwards. Datura flowers are also large, typically point upwards, and plants and flowers are large, though smaller than brugmansia. Datura plants last one growing season and then are done their cycle (die). They are considered annuals.

Note: These seeds and plants are toxic.

Germination: Place the seeds just below the surface of a sterile seed-start mix. The ideal temperature for Brugmansia germination is between 75 to 85 degreesLower or hotter temperatures will lessen the sprout rate. Heat mats can be helpful, which go under the seed tray and can be temperature regulated. If the heat mat does not have a temperature regulator, place a thermometer in the soil and check regularly. Keep lightly moist, but not wet, until germination, which usually occurs starting at 4 weeks, and continuing for 8 weeks (some seeds will appear before others). Once they begin to grow, place them in a sunny location.
