Dense Blazing Star, Prairie Feather or Gayfeather, is a perennial flowering plant that is native to eastern North America where it grows in prairies and meadows. The plants have tall spikes of purple flowers resembling bottle brushes or feathers. It is native to areas stretching from the Midwest to the East Coast, eastern and western Canada.
Dense Blazing Star is a garden flower in many countries around the world, grown for its showy purple flowers. The plants can tolerant some shade as well as drought but need regular watering during the first growing season to build strong roots.
The flowers either fresh or dried work well as cut flowers and have a vanilla scent when dried.
Excellent for attracting pollinators and beneficial insects.

Sow just under the surface of the soil and water in. Keep continuously moist. Temperature 20-22C (68-72F). Germinations in 21-60 days for most seeds, some may take up to 90 days.
