Description

Marsh Marigold is a water-loving plant, growing readily in wet or boggy soils. Plants appear early in the spring. White flowers, with bright yellow centers, appear on top of large shiny leaves! Plants look lush, and are a welcomed sign in spring. These plants are often used in water-gardens and ponds, and are found naturalized in boggy areas. They are extremely cold resistant, too! Plants behave, and do not become invasive.

Type: Bog plant, water plant, moist soil area

Height: 60cm, 24"

Hardiness zones: 5-8

Location: Sun

Note: Ornamental use only. These seeds and/or plants are poisonous.

Seeds per pack: 10

Germination: Start these seeds indoors right away for best germination rates. Your planting container should be waterproof, and not have holes at the bottom. Fill the container with compost or rich soil. Sow the seeds just under the surface, and then fill the tray with water to the top of the soil. Leave them at room temperature for 3-4 weeks. This helps break the phytohormones which inhibit germination. They will not grow yet. Then a cooling period is required. Cover them with plastic and place in a fridge for 4-6 weeks. Be sure they stay wet. After the cold  stratification period they are then brought back to 21C, 70F for them to germinate. Germination is generally 30-60 days after the warming period, though some can take longer.
